How to Choose the Right Memorial Urn Size for Your Dog, Cat, or Small Pet

When you are choosing a memorial urn, the word "size" can feel heavier than it should. So let us say it plainly: an urn's size is about fitting your companion's remains comfortably and fitting your home beautifully — it says nothing about how much they mattered. This guide is here to make the choice simple, and we are always glad to help you decide.

Why size is about capacity first

Urns are measured by volume, and the volume you need depends mainly on your companion's size and the cremation process. Published weight ranges are helpful starting points, not exact formulas — remains can vary, and every piece we make is hand-built, so each urn carries small, honest variations of its own.

The sizes we make, in practice

Our sizing follows the everyday weight ranges families recognize:

  • Cat urns come in two sizes: a smaller urn for cats around 2–10 kg, and a larger urn for cats around 10–20 kg.
  • Our seated "3D cat" urn is a single size suited to cats around 5–15 kg.
  • Dog urns come in four sizes, from a small urn for dogs around 5–15 kg up to an extra-large urn for gentle giants around 35–70 kg (and up to about 75 kg in our creative dog range).
  • For rabbits and other small companions, we offer dedicated small-pet designs sized for them.

If you are choosing between two sizes, a simple question usually settles it: where will the urn live? A smaller size fits a shelf beside a favorite photo; a larger one stands beautifully on a mantel. And if remains will be divided between family members, you may prefer two pieces rather than one larger urn — we can help you think it through.

Three questions to ask yourself

  1. What weight range does your companion fall into? Start there and ignore the "one size fits all" products — yours should be chosen for your pet, not for a shelf.
  2. Will the remains stay together, or be shared? This changes whether one urn or two fits best.
  3. Where will you keep it? Choose a size that feels right in that space — an urn you see every day should be a size you love seeing.

Still unsure? Ask us — really.

If you are between sizes, or your companion falls exactly on a boundary, message us with their weight. We will recommend a size and tell you honestly if a smaller piece is a better fit — there is no purchase pressure, just an answer. Email or WhatsApp both work, and we usually reply within 24 hours.

One gentle note

Your choice of size will not be a test you can fail. Families choose smaller urns for large dogs every day because that is where they want them to stay close. Pick the size that feels right in your home and in your heart — that is the correct size.
